Amen, Alex Chilton Is Sleeping
Instructions v-1
V-1 (11-21-15)
The goal of the project is to download the stems and add your own additional accompaniments and parts. Any instruments and styles are welcome; you may replace existing performances if you prefer. The working deadline to submit tracks is December 31, 2015. We will compile and combine tracks to make a final version (or versions!)
Download the stems, and import them into whatever DAW (digital audio workstation) you prefer. The files are .WAV, so can be imported universally. Please upload stems of your parts back into the Box.com folder in the same format, so we can import them on our end. If you upload your stems as individual tracks we’ll have more flexibility to mix them. You can also upload a completed mix of your version, using whatever additional parts others have uploaded as well as your own ideas. We will share that as well, but make sure you include your parts and performances individually so that they can be used by us and others.
If you wish, you may upload short snippets of video, as one idea we’re considering is editing those into a video to accompany our completed audio track or tracks. Similarly, you are welcome to download the video segments and edit them to your taste.
The recording is made to click track, at 84 bpm.
I’ve never done this before, so I’m sure there will be many more questions I haven’t addressed here. Feel free to message me through Facebook or write to me at [email protected] and I’ll do my best to answer promptly and clearly. I will of course update these instructions as I get a better idea what questions you have, and how this is all going to work!
We make no guarantees that we will use all the submissions we receive. All submissions become the property of Waterdog Records, and may be used without any compensation in any form or any medium. By downloading the tracks, you acknowledge your agreement to this and your waiver of all rights and copyright. By uploading or publishing any version of the song you grant Waterdog Records the right to use any portion of your performance or underlying ideas in perpetuity without any compensation other than the opportunity to collaborate with us on the project. By the same token, you have permission to publish on-line or share your versions of the song. The goal is for this to be an open-source public creative experience.

Most importantly – thank you for your interest in participating in this crazy experiment. I’m very excited to see what comes of it!!
Have fun!
